Quick answers

Common questions

Can I feed or touch the animals?

Some animals can be fed during supervised sessions, and we offer bookable animal experiences. For welfare reasons, most animals cannot be touched.

Do you still have the petting area?

We no longer operate as a traditional petting farm, but we offer interactive experiences and walkthroughs, including our accessible Australia Walkthrough.

What endangered species do you care for?

We care for several species at risk, including Scottish wildcats, Asian short-clawed otters, black-and-white ruffed lemurs and white-fronted brown lemurs. These animals help us raise awareness and support conservation efforts.

What conservation work do you do?

As a charity, conservation is central to our mission. We protect endangered species, run education programmes, and support both local and global wildlife initiatives.

What is the Red Squirrel Hospital?

We have created Scotland’s first dedicated Red Squirrel Hospital, providing specialist care for injured or orphaned red squirrels. Our goal is to rehabilitate and release as many as possible back into the wild.

Are you building a Red Squirrel Walkthrough?

Yes — we are developing a unique walkthrough habitat to help visitors learn about native wildlife. We welcome donations to support this exciting project.

How can I support the zoo?

You can help by donating, adopting an animal, sponsoring a habitat or project, fundraising for us, visiting the zoo, or simply sharing our mission online. Every contribution directly supports animal care and conservation.

Can I take photos?

Yes — photography for personal use is encouraged. For commercial or professional photography, please contact us in advance.

Can I tag you on social media?

Absolutely — we love seeing your photos. You can find us on Facebook and Instagram.
