Welcoming everyone to a historic hill farm
We want everyone to enjoy their visit, and we’re committed to making the site as accessible as we can. Because the zoo is built on a historic hill farm, some areas have natural slopes and uneven terrain — here’s an honest picture so you can plan.
Access at a glance
Step-free and accessible
- The main zoo area — smooth, level paths suitable for wheelchairs and mobility aids
- The Australia Walkthrough — a step-free, close-encounter experience
- The café, shop and main facilities — all on accessible routes
- Accessible parking close to the entrance
Areas with limited access
- Some enclosures and paths have steeper gradients
- Uneven ground, gravel or natural surfaces
- Narrower pathways in places

Visit and accessibility FAQs
Do I need to book tickets in advance?
Booking online is recommended, especially at weekends and during school holidays, but you can also buy tickets on arrival.
Do you offer annual passes?
Annual passes are coming for 2026. They will offer unlimited visits and help support our conservation work — register your interest on the tickets section above and we’ll let you know when they go on sale.
Do carers get free entry?
Yes. Visitors who require a carer or support person may bring them free of charge. Please bring relevant documentation when you arrive.
Is the zoo wheelchair accessible?
Many parts of the zoo are fully accessible, including the main zoo area, the step-free Australia Walkthrough, and the café, shop and main facilities. Because we are built on a historic hill farm, some enclosures and paths have steeper gradients, uneven ground or natural surfaces that may be challenging for wheelchair users. If you have access needs, please contact us before your visit for personalised advice.
Do you offer accessible parking?
Yes — accessible parking spaces are available close to the entrance.
Do you have a café?
The Dizzy Duck Café sits next to the entrance to the gift shop and zoo. It offers hot food, drinks and snacks, with indoor and outdoor seating.
Can I bring my own food?
Yes — picnics are welcome, and we have outdoor seating areas.
Do you have toilets and baby-changing facilities?
Yes — accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities are available on site.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are welcome in the zoo, but for animal welfare reasons they are not permitted in any of the walkthroughs or animal barns.
How do I get to Perthshire Zoo?
We are located just outside Crieff at Auchingarrich, Comrie (PH6 2JE), with clear brown visitor signage and easy access by car. There is free on-site parking for visitors.
More than a day out
The best family day out in Perthshire is also one of the most useful.
Every ticket is a small act of conservation — funding lifelong animal care, the fight for Scotland’s wildcats, and Scotland’s first Red Squirrel Hospital.
